Teenage Pregnancy
Teenage pregnancy - nationally and in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly
In 1999 the Teenage Pregnancy Unit, a cross-Government unit was set up to tackle the rising numbers of teenage pregnancies in Britain. Two main goals were identified:

to halve the teenage pregnancy rates by year 2010;

to increase by 60% the number of teenage parents in education, training or work.

Cornwall, like most counties and unitary authorities in the UK has a dedicated Reducing Teenage Pregnancy Coordinator who works in conjunction with a variety of organisations to produce a service delivery plan which will aimed at reducing teenage pregnancy statistics and improving the sexual health of young people.
The organisations working together on this plan include:

Youth Cornwall, Family Services, Youth Offending Team, Children in care and those leaving care teams, Schools and Colleges and EEFO (www.eefo.net| – the young peoples health information site).
Health Services:
Brook, School Nurses, Midwives, Health Visitors, Healthy Schools, and Public Health Young People
